Prototype Chair (circa 1925)

A prototype single commission black-lacquered chair cast in one piece of stone composite and of fluid sculptural form; with a silk upholstered seat and aluminum sabots.

Height: 31 in (78.7 cm)

Width: 19 in (48.3 cm)

Depth: 19 ¾ in (50.2 cm)

Height: 16 ½ in (41.9 cm)

Width: 17 in (43.2 cm)

Depth: 16 ½ in (41.9 cm)

A letter from Bernard Dunand, dated April 11, 1986, confirms that this chair by his father is most probably unique. He describes this prototype as “made in a sort of cement with the intention of creating the model for a chair which could be molded.”
